Police are seeking other possible victims after an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving a youth in Johnston Point, N.B.
In a media release, the New Brunswick RCMP say they arrested a 46-year-old woman from Little Shemogue, N.B, and charges have been laid.
Members of the Sackville RCMP received a report on Aug. 24 of a sexual assault involving a youth that occurred by a cook at a summer camp in Johnston Point, near Shemogue.
On September 8, in connection with the investigation, authorities arrested a 46-year-old woman at a school in Port Elgin without incident. The next day, 46-year-old Jennifer Collen Abbot appeared in Moncton Provincial court and was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and indecent exposure to a person who is under the age of 16.
She was released on conditions and is scheduled to reappear in provincial court on October 7.
Police are investigating if the same woman committed similar offences against other youths, and the RCMP’s Sexual Violence Investigative Unit has taken over the investigation.
