Stay Home Radio

Have you ever wanted to start a radio show or podcast but you’ve never had the time? Well, CHMA 106.9 FM would love to help you make your hosting dreams a reality and all from the comfort of your own home!

One of the great things about community radio is that it is, and has always been, a DIY medium, and now more than ever it’s easy to make podcasts at home. You don’t need any fancy equipment; If you have a smartphone to record and a computer or device with GarageBand or free editing software, you can make a show.

Because social distancing has suspended all live programming, we’re inviting community members to create their own shows at home and we’d love to air them! Of course, CHMA does hold the right to withhold programs from airplay if they don’t adhere to our guidelines, but we’ve created a document that will explain some of the big rules and some tips on recording at home.

There’s no pressure to submit anything, but if you’re looking to while away the hours this might be just the project you need! Also if you want to try out doing one episode and then decide if it’s something you’d like to continue, we’d be happy to have whatever content you’d like to produce!

Kids and families welcome!

We’ll be updating this page and our Facebook page as we navigate through issues and streamline these processes. Please email chma@mta.ca if you’re interested or if you have any questions or need assistance. If you have any feedback on this project or ideas on ways CHMA can better serve our community please reach out as well!
