Some of Atlantic Canada’s most successful hip-hop artists are performing just across the border Thursday night.
Nova Scotia rapper Classified headlines the Exit 1 Summer Bash at the Amherst Stadium, alongside Halifax rapper Quake Matthews and Juno-nominated pop singer Ria Mae. Quake Matthews brings his sharp lyricism and high-energy stage presence, while Ria Mae adds her signature blend of pop hooks and emotional vocals, making the lineup a major draw well beyond hip-hop fans.
Classified has been releasing music for roughly three decades, much of it independently through his own HalfLife Records. The Enfield, Nova Scotia artist has released more than 20 albums and projects over his career and won the Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 2013. He’s also collaborated with artists ranging from Snoop Dogg and Raekwon to fellow East Coast musician David Myles.
While Classified anchors the bill, anticipation is well deserved for Quake Matthews and Ria Mae, both of whom have built strong followings across Atlantic Canada and beyond, and will hopefully bring a range of style to the stage.
Thursday’s Amherst show includes an all-ages section as well as a licensed floor area for adults. Doors open at 6 pm.
