A community-driven initiative aimed at reducing waste and supporting local reuse efforts is underway today in Tantramar.
The Dump and Run program is accepting item drop-offs tomorrow (April 22nd) at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre at 182 Main Street in Sackville.
The program allows residents and students to donate gently used household items instead of throwing them away, helping divert waste from landfills during the busy spring move-out season.
The event focuses on the end of the academic year at Mount Allison University, when many students are leaving town and clearing out apartments. Common donations include small furniture, kitchen items, clothing, and home goods.
The program is intended to not only reduces landfill waste, but also help make affordable items available to others in the community. Collected goods are typically sorted and later resold or redistributed locally.
The event also coincides with Earth Day, reinforcing its focus on sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
No registration is required for drop-offs, and residents are encouraged to check accepted item guidelines in advance before bringing donations to the site.
