- MAKER MAKER: Needle Felting with Alana Morouney – Wednesday, March 11
Maker Maker continues another year of workshops with a cozy needle felting session led by Sackville artist Alana Morouney on Wednesday, March 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Owens Art Gallery, 61 York Street in Sackville. Participants will have baskets of soft roving to turn into their own small felted creations to take home, while Alana shares inspiration and practical tips for getting started with this relaxing craft, a perfect antidote to end of term stress and long winter nights. Maker Maker is a free monthly series of small after-hours art workshops; all materials are provided, no registration is required, and both experienced and first-time makers are welcome.

- Bagtown’s Trivia Night – Wednesday, February 25
The winter trivia series at Bagtown Brewing Company kicks off this Wednesday, with Marcie and Jenna hosting and a themed round on ‘2025’. Doors open at five in the evening, and trivia begins at seven. The door cover is a minimum donation of $2.50, which includes one drink ticket. Alcoholic options are $7.50, and non-alcoholic options are $5. Throughout the winter, teams will be playing for Bagtown pints, and there will be an attendance draw at the end of the series.

- Sackville Film Society – Dead Man’s Wire – Thursday, March 12
The Sackville Film Society presents Dead Man’s Wire at the Amherst Theatre on Thursday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office. Released in 2025, Dead Man’s Wire is a crime thriller based on the true 1977 kidnapping of mortgage broker Richard Hall by Tony Kiritsis in Indianapolis, following a sixty-three-hour standoff in which Kiritsis wired a sawed-off shotgun to Hall’s neck, demanded repayment for a perceived scam, and became a controversial media era folk figure.

- Morning Comic Club – Saturday, March 14
Morning Comic Club comes to Cranewood on Main on Saturday, March 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., inviting people to grab a coffee and be among the first to read a brand new comic about pay transparency in New Brunswick. It is a relaxed read and chat session with no prep or prior knowledge needed, held in partnership with Mount Allison’s Feminist and Gender Studies program. Coffee and pastries are provided, the conversation is meant to be welcoming and low pressure, and the event is free and open to all.

Ducky’s Open Mic Night continues every other Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the next session on Saturday, March 14. The pub opens the stage to acoustic performers of all kinds, including musicians, poets, comedians, and anyone with something creative to share. People can come to perform, cheer on friends, or just enjoy the atmosphere with a pint of craft beer as Ducky’s focuses on local talent and good energy. Acoustic acts only; performers are invited to bring their best tunes, words, and laughs while Ducky’s provides the mic.

- The Casual Choir Collective: Saint Patrick’s Day Sing Along – Sunday, March 15
The Casual Choir Collective is hosting a Saint Patrick’s Day sing-along on Sunday, March 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with all voices welcome. This free 2h workshop features Irish songs, music from Newfoundland, and favourite pub classics, with lyrics provided and no singing experience required. The event is vocal focused rather than an instrument jam, with Kyle Leger on guitar and Stacey Read on fiddle supporting for pitch and key so voices can stay front and centre. Children nine and up are welcome with an adult, and youth fourteen and older may attend on their own; there is a coffee shop on site, and registration details are available at www.leveeonthelake.com/workshops.

Rueda de Casino is a fun social Cuban circle dance with upbeat music and lots of laughter, running Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Sackville Curling Club. No partner or prior dance experience is required, and the group restarts from the beginning when new dancers join, making it a good time for newcomers to try it. The atmosphere is friendly and energetic with no pressure to be good at dancing, and a mix of skill levels helps people learn quickly. The cost is typically about $5-$6 per night, based on attendance, paid in blocks to cover rental costs. - Winter Ultimate Frisbee – Tuesday, March 17
Winter Ultimate Frisbee is back at Church by the Lake, with indoor games on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. The league offers a way to stay active through the winter in a friendly setting, with a $25 registration fee that goes toward the gym rental fee.
