A new face will be around campus this fall, as Mount Allison looks to strengthen its commitment to fostering student belonging, equity, and meaningful community engagement.
Rambo Nyirimihigo joins Mount Allison University as director of student equity and community development, a newly-created position that aims to improve connections across campus and help cultivate an inclusive and welcoming environment for students.
“I’m honoured to be joining the Mount Allison community and look forward to working alongside students, faculty, staff, and community partners to foster a campus where every student experiences a genuine sense of belonging and has the opportunity to thrive,” says Nyirimihigo.
Nyirimihigo brings more than a decade of leadership experience in post-secondary education, government, and the non-profit sector, with a strong background in student engagement, community development, and organizational leadership. Nyirimihigo’s appointment will begin August 1.
Prior to joining Mount Allison, Nyirimihigo served as equity, diversity and inclusion advisor at Red Deer Polytechnic, where he led the development and implementation of the institution’s five-year Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Equity, Diversity, Social Justice, and Human Rights at Western University.
With extensive international experience across Africa, Asia, and North America, Nyirimihigo brings a global perspective to his work. Having lived, studied, and worked across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, he has developed a collaborative and relationship-centred approach to leadership, community engagement, policy development, and organizational change.
