Two charged following vehicle theft in Sackville

A man and woman from Springhill, NS, have been charged after a woman was pushed to the ground and her vehicle was stolen in Sackville. 

Around 1:15 pm on June 21, 2026, Sackville RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle theft near a business on Main Street. According to a media release, the victim was trying to get in her vehicle when she was approached by a man who grabbed her keys, pushed her to the ground and fled in the vehicle. The victim was transferred to the hospital with what police believed to be minor injuries.

Four days later, on June 25, two suspects were arrested in Sackville and remanded into custody. Zachary Chatfield, 24, and Melissa Chatfield, 45, were both charged with robbery in Moncton Provincial Court on June 26, and were remanded into custody pending a future court appearance. 

On July 2, the pair appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and were released from custody pending a future court appearance. 

The investigation is ongoing.
