A 36-year-old man has been arrested after a marked R-C-M-P patrol car was stolen in New Brunswick and driven across the provincial border into Nova Scotia.

R-C-M-P Seargent Pierre-Luc Haché says the incident began around 2:30 p-m on Friday when the car was taken in Sackville, New Brunswick and headed down the Trans Canada Highway.

Mounties stopped the vehicle around 3 p-m on Highway 104 near Amherst, Nova Scotia, using a tire deflation device to puncture the vehicles tires.

Haché says two officers sustained minor injuries while arresting the man driving the vehicle.

R-C-M-P say more than 100 volunteers in Nova Scotia took part in this weekend’s search for two young children who went missing earlier this month.

Six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack Sullivan were reported missing on May 2nd from their home in Lansdowne Station, about 140 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

R-C-M-P say officers and search-and-rescue teams targeted specific areas in a renewed search that began on Saturday around the road where the home is located.

Police say this weekend’s search will be reviewed and assessed by investigators and search managers to help in planning any further ground and air efforts.

An arts collective in Halifax says after several years of fundraising, the organization has raised enough money to purchase the building they call home.

The RadStorm collective announced Saturday that a generous donation from local retired doctor Bob Fredrickson means they can purchase the building on Gottingen Street where they are based.

Fredrickson, who is 77, is well known as a pillar of the local queer community and for his work as a primary care doctor for hundreds of H-I-V/AIDS patients in Halifax in the 1980s.

Fredrickson says after a long career, the donation is a way of saying thank you to the Halifax community.
