New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt says she will be in Ottawa today to listen to King Charles read the throne speech.

King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down in Ottawa yesterday.

This is Charles’s first visit to Canada since his coronation two years ago.

Charles visited New Brunswick, P-E-I and Newfoundland and Labrador, among other places, in 1983 along with his wife, Diana, Princess of Wales.

(NS-Invasive-Fish)

Fisheries and Oceans Canada says an invasive type of fish called a pond loach has been found in Nova Scotia, marking the first such finding in Atlantic Canada.

The federal department says a single, egg-bearing, female Oriental Weatherfish, also known as a pond loach, was found in Morgans Falls, near New Germany.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada says the invasive fish species is native to eastern Asia, and this one that was captured on April 29th was likely introduced after being released from an aquarium.

Invasive species, such as the pond loach, are a problem because of the disruption they can cause to habitats and ecosystems by competing with native species for food.

Workers on a production vessel in the White Rose oilfield off the east coast of Newfoundland are joining Unifor.

The union says employees on the SeaRose floating, production and storage vessel want better job security and a strong collective voice in their workplace.

Unifor says it will now begin bargaining a first collective agreement for SeaRose employees.

Cenovus is the majority owner and operator of the White Rose oilfield, which sits about 350 kilometres off the shores of St. John’s.

(PEI-Terry-Fox-Bridge)

The annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research will mark its 45th anniversary this year by returning to the Confederation Bridge after a 10-year hiatus.

The Terry Fox Foundation says that on September 21st, the 13-kilometre bridge between New Brunswick and P-E-I will be closed to vehicle traffic between 6 a-m and 1 p-m.

The annual run across the bridge was first held in 2005, then in 2010 and 2015 — but it was cancelled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fox began his cross-Canada Marathon of Hope on April 12th, 1980, but his run was cut short five months later when he learned cancer had spread to his lungs — and he died less than a year later.

But these chairs are special —they are made from seal leather.

The decommissioned chairs, valued at 250-dollars each, are being offered to current and former members of the legislature.

If there are any leftovers, the remaining chairs will be offered to the public through a random draw.
