Tantramar getting set to mark World Wetlands Day

World Wetlands Day is coming up and Tantramar is gearing up to celebrate.

Tantramar, designated as a Wetland City, is marking World Wetlands Day with a couple of events this year, including a wetland photo contest and an open house at the Tantramar Visitor Information Centre featuring themed activities.

People are encouraged to submit their favourite wetland photos, with judging in two categories – ages 18 and under, and over 18. Email entries to visitor@TantramarNB.com by the end of the day Sunday, February 1.

On February 2, World Wetlands Day, the municipality will share five finalist photos from each category and open it up for public voting until February 9. Winners will receive a gift box from local businesses and their photo will be featured in the 2026-27 Visitor and Events Guide.

The municipality is also hosting a drop-in event at the Visitor Information Centre between 3-5 pm, featuring hot chocolate, treats, wetland-themed colouring pages and a large rubber duck for the first 25 young guests who arrive.
