Several events planned to mark Poetry Month in Tantramar

Tantramar will celebrate National Poetry Month in April with a series of events including a poets’ circle, a writers’ open mic, and an evening of poetry.

The events will kick off in Dorchester at Station 8 on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 pm with a poets’ circle, a casual event for participants to read, listen and discuss poetry. There will be refreshments and comfy couches to sit and share. This is a free event but donations will be accepted for the Station 8 community fridge.

Next up will be a writers’ open mic on Sunday, April 26. All are invited to come out to this afternoon event at the Bill Johnstone Activity Centre to share their work or just listen.

The month will end with a special evening of poetry on April 28 at 6 pm at town council chambers, where Tantramar’s own Poet Laureate Laura Watson and the local Poetry Month Contest winners will read their original poems. The municipality also welcomes others to read their favourite poem at the event. Contact Jamie at j.ferguson@tantramarnb.com if you would like to read a poem.
