Tantramar artists to participate in live painting competition

Eight local artists will put their talent on display while they race against the clock in a live painting competition next Thursday night as part of the ArtLove semi-final tour.

Jacqueline Johnson, Mani Na, Leslie Cline, Katherine Heughan-Marlin, Avalon Hamilton, Delaney Fletcher, Indu Varma and Gayle Baillargeon will all take on the challenge of creating a unique piece in front of a captivated audience in only 20 minutes.

Tantramar is one of 17 stops on this year’s ArtLove semi-final tour, which is traveling across the Maritime provinces this spring and summer.

ArtLove was launched in 2021 at the Festival Hom’Art de Shediac, helping to showcase the talent and creativity of Maritime artists. Due to its growing success, ArtLove expanded last year to include semi-finals in multiple communities with the winners from each region competing in the grand finale in Shediac. That will happen again this year, with this year’s final competition taking place on September 12 during the 2026 Festival Hom’Art.

Everyone is invited to come see imagination and skill come to life during the Tantramar ArtLove competition on Thursday, April 16 starting at 6 pm at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre. The public, along with a trio of judges, will vote to determine the winner, who will be awarded a $500 prize and two nights accommodation in Shediac in order to participate in the ArtLove Finale.
