A 69-year-old man charged with the sexual assault of 15 people at a seniors care home in New Brunswick was a family member of one of the residents.
In a news release this week, Saint John Police said they had arrested the man without incident for the sexual assaults that allegedly occurred between December 26th, 2025, and January 19th of this year.
Officials at Loch Lomond Villa later confirmed that they had made the complaint and were co-operating with the investigation.
Police say the man — whose identity has not been made public — has been released on conditions and is scheduled back in court in May.

(NB-Robbery-Sentencing)
A New Brunswick man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison following a robbery in Moncton last summer.
Police said they received a complaint about an assault with a weapon in a taxi at the intersection of High Street and Garfield Street early in the morning on August 27th of last year.
The taxi driver was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The R-C-M-P said a masked man fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.

Saint John Police say they arrested a man after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a residence in the city’s north end yesterday afternoon.
The force says the man was taken into custody without incident after officers were granted judicial authority to enter the residence on McClellan Street yesterday.
At one point, the incident closed streets and forced nearby residents to shelter in their homes while a tactical team and negotiators engaged with the man.

Halifax police say a man was rushed to hospital after he was injured this morning near Dartmouth’s Burnside Industrial Park.
Officers responded to a report of an injured person near Wright and Garland Avenues just after 11 a-m today.
The man reportedly suffered serious injuries.
Police have released few details and say an investigation into the cause of the individual’s injuries is underway.

Prince Edward Island is pushing back the start date for students in the 2026-27 school year.
The province says the move comes after a review and feedback on its two-year calendar from education stakeholders, including the P-E-I Teachers’ Federation and CUPE.
Instead of returning on Friday, September 4th, students’ first official day will now be Tuesday, September 8th.
In a statement, Minister of Education Robin Croucher said two professional development days for staff will now be held the week before the long weekend.

(NL-Snowplow-Theft)
Mounties in northeastern Newfoundland say a snowplow they believe was stolen from a commercial building on the weekend has been recovered.
Bonavista R-C-M-P say the tractor-style snowplow was taken from Port Union sometime between Friday and Sunday, likely during the overnight.
The snowplow was recovered by police yesterday in Upper Amherst Cove.
Police say the investigation into the theft is ongoing and they are seeking public help to find those responsible.
