As Tantramar gets ready to welcome 2025, thoughts will soon turn to a change in local governance for the municipality.
Municipal elections are set for May 11, 2026 and voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for a new mayor and council in the municipality of Tantramar.
The municipality, which was divided into five electoral wards in the 2022 election, will once again elect one mayor and a total of eight councillors. Residents of each ward will vote for their own councillors, while everyone can cast their ballot for a new mayor. One representative will be elected from Ward 1, one from Ward 2, four from Ward 3, 1 from Ward 4, and 1 from Ward 5.

Nominations for candidates open on March 23 and close April 10. Advance polls will take place May 2 and May 4.
