The province reported no new cases of COVID-19 yesterday in New Brunswick.
Public health posted 317 new test results, with 120 in the South East Region.
That’s just below the target set by Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell. Russell says the province should be performing at least 2300 tests per week, an average of 329 tests per day.

Russell and Premier Blaine Higgs did not hold a press conference Tuesday, though the province announced the gradual reopening of provincial parks.
This Friday, several provincial parks will reopen with services limited to trails and beaches, public washrooms, limited restaurant services, and camping.
Mactaquac Provincial Park, New River Beach Provincial Park, Anchorage Provincial Park on Grand Manan Island, Oak Bay Provincial Park, and the Fundy Trail Parkway will all open Friday, with limited services, no events, and no programming or co-ordinated activities.
Next week, more parks are slated for opening, including Murray Beach and Parlee Beach Provincial Parks.

Today, our government is announcing new measures to support seniors during this pandemic.
Justin Trudeau announced a one time, tax-free payment of up to $500 for Canadian seniors.
Anyone receiving Old Age Security will get an additional $300. About 7 million people in Canada receive OAS, which serves as a form of basic income for people over aged 65.
Seniors with lower incomes also qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement, and they will get an additional $200. Â

We’ve seen heartbreaking tragedies in long term care facilities and nursing homes right across the country. overworked staff, understaffed residences, grieving families. there are serious Underlying challenges facing these facilities, and in the coming months, the federal government will be there to help the provinces find lasting solutions.

A survey released Tuesday says that about 30% of students who were planning to attend post-secondary school in the fall are considering changing their plans. The survey was commissioned by the Canadian Federation of Students and the Canadian Association of University Teachers.
A number of Canadian universities have announced that their fall courses will be delivered primarily online.
Mount Allison University will make an announcement on Friday in response to the latest lifting of provincial restrictions.
