RCMP asking for public’s help following hit and run between vehicle, dog

The Sackville RCMP is asking for the public’s help following a hit and run collision involving a vehicle and a dog in Sackville.

On Friday, Oct. 16, at approximately 6 pm, members of the Sackville RCMP detachment responded to a report of a hit and run collision between a vehicle and a dog near the intersection of Folkins Drive and Stephens Drive in Sackville.

While walking her dog, a woman attempted to cross the street when a red-coloured sedan travelling eastbound on Folkins failed to stop, striking the dog. The driver fled the scene in the same direction, towards Route 2, and the dog died at the scene. The individual was uninjured.

Police have followed up on several leads to try to identify the vehicle involved and are asking for the public’s help to further the investigation.

If you witnessed the hit and run collision on the evening of October 16, stopped at the scene, or were driving in the area at the time of the incident or have dash cam footage of the incident, please contact the Sackville RCMP at 506-364-5023.

The investigation is ongoing.
