New Brunswick’s Liberal and Green parties are set to make announcements about health care on the campaign trail today, with two weeks left until the vote.
Liberal leader Susan Holt is scheduled to hold her announcement this morning in Saint John, followed by lunch at the city’s market.
A spokesperson with the Progressive Conservative party shared few details about the event scheduled for leader Blaine Higgs in Fredericton, this morning.
David Coon, leader of the Greens, will hold a media conference this morning about local health-care decision-making alongside deputy leader Megan Mitton in her Sackville riding.

In New Brunswick, a former conservative running to be the next representative for a southwestern riding says he switched parties because of a change happening in the province’s Progressive Conservative party.
John Herron, a two-term Progressive Conservative member of Parliament who has since joined the Liberals, is up against Tory candidate Faytene Grasseschi in an election where the Tories’ increasing social conservatism is causing a schism in the party.
This is not the first time Tory politicians have departed from the party because they don’t agree with Higgs’ policies.
In the 2020 election, 12 members of the Progressive Conservatives chose not to run again, some citing the direction Higgs was taking the party.

A Newfoundland man driving a transport truck was arrested after a chase with police over the weekend.
R-C-M-P say they attempted to stop the transport truck driver on the Trans Canada Highway near the community of Gambo around 6 p-m Friday.
When the truck didn’t pull over, police say they pursued the driver who eventually stopped and was taken into custody about 30 minutes later.
Details of possible charges have not been released.

Halifax residents living near the Armdale Roundabout were asked to reduce their water use over the weekend.
This was due to major repair work that began Friday.
Halifax Water says while work was ongoing at the Chebucto Road water main, a sewer pipe burst which required further unexpected repairs.
The utility agency says it’s unclear what caused the pipe to burst.

An inmate at Nova Scotia’s Springhill Institution in Springhill, has died in custody.
Correctional Services Canada says inmate John Daley was 61 years old and had been serving an indeterminate sentence that began in 1998.
The corrections agency says it will review the circumstances of Daley’s death.

The association representing P-E-I social workers says a shortage of staff is leading to burnout and long wait times.
Kathy Jones, head of the association, says about 40 per cent of social work positions in Health P-E-I are currently vacant.
Jones says this means that existing social workers are being asked to take on extra duties and work longer hours as a result.
