It’s provincial election day in New Brunswick.
Residents can cast their votes at polling stations throughout the province between 10 a-m and 8 p-m today.
Progressive Conservative Leader Blaine Higgs is seeking a third term as premier, and presented voters with a two-page platform containing 11 promises.
By contrast, the Liberals led by Susan Holt have made 100 campaign promises — many of which focus on health care and housing. (The Canadian Press)

Police in New Brunswick are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 50-year-old man.
They say officers were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash on Route 425, in Strathadam, yesterday around 3 a-m.
Police say they believe the motorcycle, travelling west, failed to navigate a turn and struck a guardrail, ejecting the driver who died at the scene.
They say they believe alcohol to be a contributing factor that led to the crash. (The Canadian Press)

(Halifax-Election)
Former Liberal MP Andy Fillmore has been elected as Halifax’s newest mayor, as municipalities across the region took to the polls on Saturday.
Results will not be considered official until early next week when they are certified by a returning officer.
Fillmore replaces outgoing Halifax mayor Mike Savage who led the city for over a decade, having been elected to the post in 2012, and who was named to become Nova Scotia’s next lieutenant-governor.
Fillmore is a former city planner who was first elected as a Halifax member of Parliament in the 2015 election that brought Justin Trudeau to power. He resigned from his seat to run in the municipal election. (The Canadian Press)

NB-Missing-Teen)
R-C-M-P in New Brunswick resumed a ground search for a missing 14-year-old girl from Bathurst last seen more than three years ago.
Madison Roy-Boudreau was reported missing in May 2021, and police announced later than year that her disappearance would be treated as a homicide.
Corporal Hans Oullette with the Mounties says ground search and rescue crews were out this weekend in the Middle River area, just south of Bathurst.
R-C-M-P have previously searched the Bathurst and Middle River areas with helicopters, drones and dogs. (CBC News)

(NL-Hotel-Fire)
Police in Newfoundland and Labrador say all patrons have been accounted for following a fire at a hotel.
They say officers responded to a structure fire on Nicholsville Road near Main Street in Deer Lake around 7 a-m on Saturday.
They say one woman was treated for minor injures.
Police had asked people to evacuate the hotel because concerns about a propane tank near the building, but now say there is no public safety risk. (The Canadian Press)
