Update: New Brunswick RCMP posted the following message on Facebook on May 20, 2025:
“The individual involved in the assault with a weapon incident in Sackville has since been identified. The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance.”
The RCMP is asking the public for help in identifying someone suspected of an assault with a weapon on Sunday in Sackville
Police say they were called to a residence on Albion Street, off Walker Road, at about 3:45pm Sunday afternoon with a report of an assault, but the suspect had fled the scene before they arrived.
Police released a surveillance camera photo of the suspect, and described him as a 39-year-old man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with “a skinny build, olive complexion, dark hair, and a goatee.” Police say the suspect has a large tattoo on his left hand, and was last seen wearing bright tie-dye pants and carrying a backpack.
Police believe the assault was an isolated incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police advise members of the public not to approach anyone they think matches the description, but to call 911 or the Sackville police detachment with information.
