Council agenda includes public presentation plus routine approvals
Tantramar council is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 pm in council chambers at the municipal office on Main Street.
The agenda includes a public presentation from the Protect the Chignecto Isthmus Coalition, with Lisa Griffin scheduled to speak.
Council will also consider a request to approve the annual purchase of chemicals for the Sackville water treatment plant, a routine item required for ongoing water treatment operations.
Several motions are expected, including one from Councillor Matt Estabrooks and one from Deputy Mayor Debbie Wiggins-Colwell. Councillor Bruce Phinney is expected to bring forward a notice of motion.

Public information session on proposed gas plant
The following evening, residents are invited to attend a public information session on the proposed Tantramar gas plant.
The session is being hosted by the Tantramar Climate Change Advisory Committee, with representatives from NB Power expected to be available to answer questions.
The session takes place Wednesday, January 14, from 7 to 9:30 pm at the Crabtree Auditorium at Mount Allison University, Room M14. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., with refreshments available before the meeting.
Organizers say the goal is to give members of the public an opportunity to respectfully ask questions and learn more about the proposal. They are encouraging the same respectful tone seen at a special council meeting held in December, to allow as many people as possible to participate.
