Tantramar’s newly-elected municipal council will officially take office this week.

A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, at 6:30 pm in council chambers at the municipal office, located at 31C Main Street in Sackville.

The event is open to the public and is listed by the municipality as a special council meeting.

The ceremony follows May’s municipal election and marks the beginning of the new council term. The new council will be responsible for guiding municipal decisions across Tantramar, including Sackville, Dorchester, Point de Bute, Midgic and surrounding communities.

Regular council meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. Committee of the whole meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 3 pm.
