89 New Brunswickers have been recognized by the provincial government for exemplary acts of service since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The province announced the “Stepping up for my New Brunswick” program in July, a couple of months after Premier Blaine Higgs first made an appearance wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan.
Members of the public had until the end of 2020 to nominate people they felt had stepped up in various and meaningful ways to minimize the impact of the pandemic in the province.

Mount Allison student Hannah Crouse was recognized for her leadership and dedication to the vulnerable in the Tantramar region, after she created and coordinated a program matching seniors with student volunteers to cook and share meals together.
Carolle de Ste-Croix was recognized for her efforts as a key member of the COVID-19 Tantramar Task Force in working tirelessly for the benefit of the citizens of her community.
Port Elgin native Jeshua Becker was recognized for his initiative and leadership in applying for a community youth grant which he used to help struggling families by delivering food boxes to them.
Tara Albert and Lindsay Cary also made the list, for coordinating volunteers of the Tantramar School Food Response and securing funding to ensure that over 100 families in the area continued to receive food weekly during the state of emergency.
