The Canadian Hurricane Centre says hurricane Debby could have an impact on Eastern Canada later this week or on the weekend.
The centre issued a brief statement yesterday, noting that Debby had made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, but the storm was expected to slow down and weaken over the next few days.
The hurricane caused catastrophic flooding in Florida and is being blamed for at least four deaths.
The hurricane centre’s statement says considerable uncertainty remains about how Debby will evolve as it moves north.

(Baby-Cereal-Recall)
Health Canada has issued a recall for Gerber brand Oat Banana and Mango Baby Cereal due to possible contamination by a type of bacteria known as Cronobacter.
The affected products were sold online and in stores in New Brunswick, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and possibly other provinces and territories.
The cereal was sold in 227-gram packages with a best-before date of May 30th, 2025.
The agency says food contaminated with Cronobacter may not look or smell spoiled but can still make a person sick, and in rare cases, can cause serious or fatal infections.

Police in northern Nova Scotia are investigating a collision that claimed the life of a 39-year-old cyclist.
R-C-M-P say officers were called to Highway 366 near Amherst Shore Provincial Park on Saturday morning.
They say a Honda Odyssey minivan was travelling east when it hit a bicycle headed in the same direction.
Police say the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 32-year-old woman driving the van suffered non-life-threatening injuries and three children in the vehicle were not injured.

(NB-Body-In-Lake)
The R-C-M-P in New Brunswick say the body of a 22-year-old swimmer has been recovered from Maquapit Lake near Clarks Corner.
Mounties and first responders were dispatched to the lake on Saturday after police were told a man from Saint Mary’s First Nation had disappeared while swimming.
His body was found Sunday at 4 p-m.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine what cause his death.

Police in Nova Scotia say a woman has died in a collision between a car and possibly two semi-tractor trailers in Martins River.
R-C-M-P say officers and first responders arrived at the scene on Highway 10 at about 10:10 a-m on Saturday.
They say a Mazda C-X-5 travelling westbound collided with one, possibly two, semi-tractor trailers — one travelling east and the other travelling west.
The Mounties say the 28-year-old driver and sole occupant of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police in western Newfoundland are asking for the public’s help in finding a 21-year-old man wanted for violating parole conditions.
Officers say Josh Feaver is wanted by Bay St. George R-C-M-P, and is believed to be in the Stephenville area.
Police describe him as being five-feet-10-inches tall, weighing about 185 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes.
He also has a tattoo of a sword with a snake behind his right ear.
