(NS-Murder-Charge)
A Halifax-area man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Dieago Downey.
The victim was shot on March 14th in North Preston and he died later in hospital.
Halifax police arrested Daniel Romeo Downey in the Dartmouth area on Wednesday.
He was also charged with attempted murder following the recent discovery of a second victim in the case, a 29-year-old man from North Preston.

(NL-Woman-Shot)
Police in Newfoundland are looking for the public’s help after a woman was shot in St. John’s.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says officers found her shortly after 10 p-m Wednesday near the Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.
She was taken to hospital and is still there, in stable condition.
Police are asking anyone with information or with video footage from the area between 9 p-m and 10:30 p-m on Wednesday to come forward.

(NB-Festival-Upgrades)
The New Brunswick government says it will give money for infrastructure upgrades at the Festival Western in Saint-Quentin.
A news release says the upgrades cost about 141-thousand dollars.
Festival president Nicole Labrie says the event is an undeniable economic driver for the region, and so it is important to keep facilities upgraded.
The festival helps attract more than 60-thousand visitors annually.

(Atlantic-Accords-Legislation)
The governments of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador are urging a Senate committee to quickly pass federal legislation that would help establish a wind industry off Canada’s East Coast.
The legislation would expand the mandate of the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board so it can regulate offshore renewables.
Nova Scotia Energy Minister Tory Rushton told the committee yesterday that he would like to see the bill pass without amendments so his government can put in place the required mirror legislation this fall and then issue its first call for project bids in 2025.
Committee chair Paul Massicotte said a clause-by-clause examination of the bill would have to wait until concerns from Nova Scotia’s Mi’kmaw chiefs are heard in a meeting to be scheduled for September.

(NB-Fredericton-Drug-Trafficking)
A 49-year-old Fredericton man is facing weapons and drug trafficking charges after city police stopped a stolen vehicle.
Police say officers stopped a red Dodge Caravan that had been reported stolen from a city parking lot.
They say the officers found five-thousand-dollars’ worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine along with scales.
A firearm and other weapons were also discovered.

(PEI-Infrastructure)
The P-E-I government is offering more than 25-million dollars to pay for infrastructure needed for about 700 new residential lots.
The Municipal Infrastructure Fund will provide grants up to 300-thousand dollars to developers creating lots and subdivisions within rural municipalities.
The funding will be used to pay for the extension of existing municipal water and wastewater systems, public roads and sidewalks.
Developers creating two to five lots can receive 10-thousand dollars per lot, while those developing six to 10 lots can receive 12-thousand dollars per lot, and those creating 11 to 20 lots can receive 15-thousand per lot.
