(Atlantic-Heat-Warnings)
Heat warnings have been issued across almost all of Atlantic Canada — except Labrador.
Environment Canada says temperatures across the region will range between 29 and 35 degrees Celsius today and Thursday.
The humidity will make it feel as hot as 45 in parts of New Brunswick and 41 in Nova Scotia’s inland communities.
The Humidex will range between 35 and 37 across P-E-I, and between 33 and 40 in central and northeastern Newfoundland.

(NB-Travel-Nurses)
A New Brunswick legislative committee is seeking answers about the nearly 174 million dollars spent on travel nurses that the auditor general said was partly mismanaged.
Auditor general Paul Martin said in a recent report that two provincial health authorities and a government department failed to properly monitor the contracts awarded for travel nurses.
Deputy Minister Eric Beaulieu told the committee today that the service hadn’t been used much in the province prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says the Health Department found about the province’s use of travel nurses in early 2022.

A former New Brunswick Progressive Conservative cabinet minister says he is coming out of retirement to run as a Liberal in the upcoming provincial election because he is “disappointed” with Tory Premier Blaine Higgs.
Bruce Northrup says he will seek the Liberal nomination for the riding of Sussex Three Rivers, currently held by Tourism Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace.
Northrup says he has been following Higgs closely over the past year and doesn’t think either the premier or Scott-Wallace are serving the needs of the people of Sussex.
Northrup, who served four terms that included stints running the natural resources and public safety departments, says the government is “focused on distractions” while voters in the riding face flooding risks and an inadequately equipped hospital.

(NB-Suspicious-Disappearance)
New Brunswick R-C-M-P’s major crime unit is investigating the disappearance of a 40-year-old man from Fredericton.
Police say Kevin Sexton was last seen on May 31st, around 4:15 p-m near the community of Tracy.
They describe Sexton as five feet eight inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds, has blue eyes and short grey hair; and was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark blue sweatpants and green and white shoes.
Police say his disappearance is deemed suspicious.

(PEI-Foreign-Workers)
Foreign workers in P-E-I have vowed to begin another hunger strike yesterday, after they say provincial officials failed to meet their immigration demands.
Jaspreet Singh says about 50 workers representing about 250 might stop eating, after they halted a previous hunger strike last month at the request of provincial officials.
He says officials promised to work with them to reach a solution, but nothing came of the government’s pledge.
The protesting foreign workers say new changes aimed at capping immigration to the Island have left them in limbo, and they’re demanding to be grandfathered in under the old rules.

The P-E-I government has arranged a series of events that will allow Islanders to test drive electric vehicles.
Residents will the have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a new Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck or a Kia Soul E-V.
Also available for test drives will be a Kia Niro and a Kia E-V-6.
Test drives will be offered from late June until mid-August at events in Stratford, Charlottetown, Summerside, O’Leary, Montague, St. Peter’s Bay, Kensington and Ellerslie.

Halifax area R-C-M-P say four youths have been arrested after a recent string of property damage incidents in Cole Harbour.
Police say that between April 20th and May 26th they received over 20 reports of vandalism related to 18 vehicles and three homes along 11 streets in the community.
They say evidence indicates that rocks, pellet guns and other blunt objects were used to break windows, slash tires and vandalize vehicle interiors.
The youths have been released and are to appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court at a later date to face charges of mischief.
