On today’s show, CHMA talks with John MacIsaac, president of PROENERGY Canada, a subsidiary of the Missouri-based company which has been chosen by NB Power to build and operate a new natural gas power plant near Midgic. NB Power recently purchased the property where the new plant will be located, just off Route 940, near Centre Village, inside municipality of Tantramar boundaries.

MacIsaac talks about the location, technology, jobs and potential local impacts of the plant.

The project is currently in the federal environmental impact assessment stage. The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada is hosting virtual information sessions for members of the public to learn more about the project, and find out how to submit comments on the information provided so far.  English sessions happen online on July 21 at 6:30pm and July 22 at 1:30pm. A French session will take place July 22 at 6:30pm. Registration information is available here.
