New Brunswick’s premier-designate Susan Holt has named a transition team.
The team includes Kelly Cain, a longtime provincial civil servant who was Holt’s chief of staff; Katie Davey, the executive director of the Pond-Deshpande Centre, and Len Hoyt, partner at McInnes Cooper’s Fredericton office.
It also includes Serge Rousselle, a professor of law at the Université de Moncton.
Holt will be sworn in as premier on November 2nd.

A small memorial of flowers and candles has been set up in a parking lot outside a Walmart in Halifax where a young woman was found dead in a walk-in oven.
It remains unclear what happened to the Walmart employee, whose body was found Saturday.
A police spokeswoman says the “cause and manner” of the 19-year-old’s death remains unknown.
Police say their investigation is expected to take a long time.

The Nova Scotia government is expanding a program that encourages people to shop at local famers’ markets.
Students and staff at Acadia University in Wolfville and at the Nova Scotia Community College Kingstec campus in Kentville will get the vouchers.
The Acadia vouchers can be used at the Wolfville farmers’ market, and the Kingstec vouchers can be used at both the Wolfville and Kentville farmers’ markets.
The new Nova Scotia Loyal project builds on an earlier program for public school children.

Some ugly weather is headed for Atlantic Canada.
Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for parts of the region, saying an intense low-pressure system is expected to track southeast of Nova Scotia tonight and into Friday before heading to eastern Newfoundland.
Periods of heavy rain and strong winds are possible over eastern Nova Scotia on Thursday night and Friday morning, though the heaviest rain and strongest winds are expected to stay offshore.
Meanwhile, heavy rain and strong winds are in the forecast for northeast Newfoundland — from the Bay of Exploits to Clarenville, as well as Buchans and the Interior — with total rainfall ranging between 40 and 70 millimetres and maximum gusts reaching up to 80 kilometres per hour from Thursday night to Sunday morning.

Police in Nova Scotia have charged a 44-year-old woman in the theft of funds from the Pictou East Progressive Conservative Association between 2016 to 2024.
New Glasgow Regional Police allege the association’s volunteer treasurer was withdrawing funds from the organization’s account.
They say investigators arrested the woman earlier this month at her house, where they seized mobile electronic devices, bank records and cash.
Police charged her with crimes including forgery, theft over five-thousand-dollars and fraud over five-thousand-dollars.

R-C-M-P in Cape Breton say a 22-year-old woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash on the Cabot Trail.
Police say they responded to a report of a crash in River Bennett on Tuesday.
They say a Nissan Frontier left the road and rolled into a ditch.
The victim, who was from Englishtown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
