On today’s show, Tantramar Report’s the Stuff of History series takes us back to the Keillor House museum in Dorchester, where we find a shop ledger dating back to the 1820’s, full of names and transactions for a store operated by the Wood family. Josiah Wood, the former owner of Cranewood in Sackville and developer of the Wood Block on Bridge Street, eventually took over Mariner Wood & Sons, the family business.
Plus, we recap some highlights from the first of two information sessions about a proposed new natural gas power generation plant in rural Tantramar on Monday evening. People shared concerns about wetland destruction and impacts to wildlife in the area.Â
Members of the public have until August 1 to submit written comments to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, who hosted the meeting. Those comments, along with responses from the project proponent, ProEnergy Canada, will be used to decide whether or not a full federal environmental impact assessment will go forward for the 10 turbine gas plant off route 940, just north of Midgic. Â
