(NB-Car-Show-Tickets)

Drivers outside a car show racked up almost 60 tickets in Moncton Saturday night.

Codiac Regional R-C-M-P said there were numerous calls on Mountain Road for a large gathering related to the Atlantic Nationals car show.

Police say drivers were racing and doing burnouts on the road.

A number of people were arrested and 57 tickets were issued under the Motor Vehicle Act.

A Progressive Conservative leadership candidate in New Brunswick is defending accusations from his rivals that his campaign is violating fundraising rules.

A campaign opponent complained about a sign at Sussex festival offering people incentives to join the P-C party and vote for Don Monahan as leader.

The Arcadia-Butternut Valley-Maple Hills representative offered festival patrons 85-dollars’ worth of tokens and passes if they joined the party to vote for him.

(NL-Vehicle-Seizure)

A Newfoundland and Labrador man has had his vehicle seized following a traffic stop in St. Anthony.

R-C-M-P say patrol officers stopped a vehicle yesterday evening for having an expired registration.

The Mounties say the driver had no licence and couldn’t provide proof of valid insurance during the traffic stop.

He was subsequently issued three tickets under the Highway Traffic Act while the vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded. (The Canadian Press)

Canada’s premiers gathered Yesterday in Charlottetown for their annual meeting which included an appearance by Prime Minister Mark Carney.

P-E-I Premier Rob Lantz announced yesterday morning the addition of a virtual meeting with the prime minister on today’s agenda for the Council of the Federation.

It comes after U-S President Donald Trump announced yesterday he would increase tariffs on some Canadian goods by 50 per cent within 30 days.

Carney was originally set to meet with premiers and territorial leaders this Thursday and is still expected to attend. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Marine-Accident)

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after a Department of Fisheries and Oceans vessel overturned in the waters near Digby, Nova Scotia.

The federal agency said in a release that it’s sending a team of investigators to St. Mary’s Bay.

DFO said four fisheries officers were practicing at-sea boarding maneuvers with a pair of conservation and protection vessels on July 15th when their rigid hull inflatable boat overturned.

They recieved medical attention at the wharf and were all home that evening.

(NS-Halibut-Seizure)

A captain has been charged with illegal fishing after more than eight-thousand kilograms of halibut was seized in Nova Scotia.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada says officers tracked the vessel within the St. Anns Bank Marine Protected area east of Cape Breton earlier this month.

It says officers tried multiple times to hail the boat on July 6th and 8th before officers boarded the vessel and ordered it to dock in Louisbourg.

The department says the catch was seized the following day, and the capital was charged with illegal fishing, obstruction and failure to report his catch. (The Canadian Press)
