Nova Scotia is inviting developers to test smaller tidal energy devices in the Bay of Fundy while gathering technical, operational and environmental data.
Energy Minister Marco MacLeod says the program will help the province better understand the potential of future marine renewable energy programs.
Projects of less than two megawatts each can apply, with a total of seven-point-seven megawatts available through the demonstration program.
Applications will be judged on readiness, innovation and experience, with successful projects eligible for permits of up to five years.

The Saint-Léonard R-C-M-P is investigating a mischief incident in Saint-André, New Brunswick.
Police say a pickup truck was damaged at a business on Despres Road sometime between six p-m July 29th and seven a-m July 30th.
Investigators are looking for witnesses or surveillance footage from the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint-Léonard R-C-M-P.

Gasoline prices fell overnight across most of Atlantic Canada, while diesel prices were mixed.
In Nova Scotia, gasoline dropped two cents per litre while diesel rose six-point-two cents.
Prince Edward Island saw gasoline fall one-point-seven cents, while diesel was unchanged.
New Brunswick gasoline slipped zero-point-nine cents and diesel fell four-point-one cents per litre.

(NL-Stolen-Vehicle-Recovered)
Newfoundland and Labrador R-C-M-P have charged a 26-year-old man after a stolen vehicle was recovered.
Police say the vehicle was taken from a home in Twillingate on July 29th before officers arrested a man in the Summerford area.
Police say Jack Leblanc is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and breaching a probation order.
Leblanc was released on conditions and is expected in Gander provincial court on September 15th.

Prince Edward Island is celebrating Acadian Heritage Month with eight community-led events throughout August.
The new Acadian Heritage Month Fund is supporting activities highlighting Acadian history, culture and heritage.
Belle-Alliance received 35-hundred dollars for an August 19th visit to the Roma at Three Rivers historic site.
The Acadian flag will fly at the provincial administrative building in Charlottetown until National Acadian Day on August 15th.
