R-C-M-P say renewed air and ground searches took place on saturday for two Nova Scotia children reported missing over two weeks ago.

Mounties say teams will focus on specific areas around the road in Lansdowne Station where the home of six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan is located.

A search that began on May 2nd was scaled back the following week as police said there was little chance the children could have survived so long in the heavily wooded area.

Police have also searched bodies of water around Lansdowne Station but did not find any evidence. (The Canadian Press)

Nova Scotia’s health authority says it is seeking the power to issue 500-dollar tickets to unauthorized drivers who take advantage of free parking at hospitals.

Nova Scotia Health emailed Halifax-area hospital staff yesterday to say it is working to preserve spaces for patients, visitors, and authorized staff and will also offer 175 additional free on-site parking spots to workers.

The memo came a day after Health Minister Michelle Thompson acknowledged “growing pains” as hospitals adjust to the province’s new free-parking policy that took effect May 1st.

The health authority says the Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General hospital together need almost four-thousand more parking spaces than are currently available to meet peak demand. (The Canadian Press)

New Brunswick says the Carleton North Medical Clinic will add staff to its team over the coming months.

A news release says the clinic — which has two full-time family physicians and three part-time physicians — is expected to add administrative support and nurses.

It says this team of health-care professionals can serve 800 patients without a primary-care provider by the end of 2026.

The Liberal provincial government has promised to create at least 30 local collaborative family clinics over four years. (The Canadian Press)

The mayor of Summerside in eastern P-E-I says the city’s ongoing electrical problems are far from over.

Dan Kutcher says a temporary fix is in place, but the city’s power grid remains vulnerable.

The Island’s second-largest city operates its own utility, which faced a series of power outages this winter.

Summerside Electric still relies on Maritime Electric’s transmission grid to get some power from New Brunswick, but problems started in February when a Maritime Electric substation encountered some serious challenges. (CBC News)

(Bluenose-Weekend)

Thousands of runners, walkers, and onlookers are taking over many streets in Halifax and Dartmouth for the annual Blue Nose Marathon over the weekend.

Police are suggesting people avoid driving in the downtown areas on Saturday and Sunday, as many roads are closed due to runners.

Running distances range from two kilometres to the full marathon in an event that bills itself as offering options for every age, ability, and fitness level.

Participants in the events are being offered free transit over Saturday and Sunday. (The Canadian Press)
