(Atl-Weather-Statement)

Much of the Atlantic region is in for a cold and windy start to the week as Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Nova Scotia and parts of P-E-I and Newfoundland.

This morning, most of Nova Scotia and the eastern part of P-E-I will see between five and 15 centimetres of snow, with the possibility of more in Cape Breton.

Strong winds are expected to start in the afternoon, which could bring a risk of snow squalls.

Through this evening and into tomorrow, parts of eastern Newfoundland will see 10 to 20 centimetres of snow and winds up to 80 kilometres an hour.  (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Boil-Water)

Roughly two-thousand customers are under a boil-water advisory in the Halifax area until further notice.

Halifax Water says while repairs have been made to a watermain break in the Waverley Road area, the advisory remains in effect as a precaution due to the prolonged loss of water pressure.

Residents in the area including Port Wallace, Keystone Village and Spider Lake, are advised to boil water for at least one minute before consuming or cooking with it.

The Halifax Regional Municipality opened up the East Dartmouth Community Centre to residents without water yesterday.  (The Canadian Press)

(NL-Harbour-Shed)

An unusual sight was spotted yesterday in the harbour near Marystown, Newfoundland.

The town posted on social media that a shed was seen floating in the water, heading towards Canning Bridge.

The post suggested strong winds over the weekend might have caused the issue.

The town has not said if the shed was claimed, but if you live in the area and are missing a 10 by 12 foot shed, you could check the harbour. (The Canadian Press)

(ENT-Come-From-Away)

The Tony-winning musical “Come From Away” will return to Newfoundland and Labrador to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001.

The hit musical tells the story of when over three-dozen global flights were diverted to a small airport in Gander, Newfoundland in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when four hijacked passenger planes crashed in the U-S.

While seven-thousand passengers were stranded in Gander, locals did what they could to welcome them.

Tickets for the September 2026 production run go on sale today. (The Canadian Press)
