(NB-Police-Collision)

A New Brunswick man has been arrested after police say he intentionally hit one of their vehicles, injuring an officer. 

Officers say the 23-year-old man was driving erratically Sunday when Fredericton police attempted to stop his car on the Princess Margaret Bridge. 

They say the driver failed to stop and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a police car. 

The man faces several charges, including driving while prohibited, and remains in police custody. (The Canadian Press)

(PEI-PC-Leadership)

The race for the leadership of the Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative party is down to two men. 

The party posted to social media that Rob Lantz and Mark Ledwell have been approved as candidates for the leadership. 

Lantz was interim-premier from February until December, and currently serves as the M-L-A for Charlottetown-Brighton. 

Ledwell, a lawyer and business leader, has been a longtime party member and announced his intention to run for the leadership in May. 

Party members will vote on their new leader at the party convention February 7th. (The Canadian Press)

(Atl-Weather-Warnings)

Several parts of Atlantic Canada are under weather watches and warnings today and into Tuesday. 

In New Brunswick, Environment Canada is warning of extreme cold temperatures in the central and northern areas of the province, from Fredericton to the Bathurst area. 

The weather service says wind chill values could drop to minus-35 degrees.

Newfoundland is also under a weather warning this morning, as high winds and snow overnight could lead to hazardous conditions. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Shots-Fired)

Police in Halifax are looking for information about gunshots fired in North Preston over the weekend. 

Officers responded on Saturday to a call about shots fired on Clarence Street and Johnson Road. 

Police say the occupants of two vehicles were shooting at each other. 

There were no reported injuries. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Barricade-Arrest)

Nova Scotia R-C-M-P have arrested a person in Ship Harbour who had barricaded themselves inside a home. 

In a social media post, the police agency said they responded to the residence Saturday night. 

Officers say the person was alone, but may have been armed. 

An update to the post later that evening confirmed the person was in custody. (The Canadian Press)
