An 18-year-old New Brunswick man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Moncton.
R-C-M-P say they responded to the crash on Highway 2 on Saturday.
Officers say the car, travelling east, is believed to have left the road and entered a ditch.
Police, along with an R-C-M-P collision reconstructionist, are still investigating. (The Canadian Press)

(NB-Coroners-Inquest)
A coroner’s inquest into the death of a construction worker is set to get underway today in a Saint John courtroom.
Matthew Brawn died in July 2024 in a workplace accident while putting up wind turbines in the Springdale area, east of Sussex.
Regional coroner Danny Mallet and a jury will publicly hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts surrounding Brawn’s death.
The jury will also have the opportunity to make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Dog-Attack-Funeral)
A Nova Scotia community gathered yesterday to mourn the loss of a 13-year-old boy who died after a dog attack.
Drew Nickerson was transported from his home in Welshtown to hospital in Halifax last week, but died from his injuries.
An obituary page for Nickerson remembers the boy as kind and loving, with a particular interest in sports and the outdoors.
An online fundraiser brought in 50-thousand dollars in support of Nickerson’s family last week. (The Canadian Press)

(Atl-Weather-Warnings) (NL note) (Watch for dating)
Parts of the Atlantic region are under a weather warning this morning.
The east coast and parts of central Newfoundland are under an orange warning from Environment Canada for extremely high winds.
From Burgeo up to Twillingate, the weather agency is calling for winds up to 130 kilometres an hour this morning and continuing into the evening.
High winds are also in the forecast for eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton, with gusts up to 100 kilometres an hour expected in some areas. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Springhill-Assault)
Correctional Services says an inmate at a Nova Scotia prison had to be taken to hospital after an assault last week.
The agency says an inmate at Springhill Institution, a medium security facility, was assaulted and brought to a hospital for treatment.
Officials say the assailant has been identified and a temporary lockdown was in place at the facility.
The agency did not give an update on the health or status of the assault victim. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Museum-Closed)
Halifax’s Museum of Natural History will be closed to visitors for two weeks, beginning today.
Staff say the temporary exhibition space will be renovated, and it was necessary to close the whole space due to noise and construction.
Staff will still be coming in to attend to the animals.
The museum plans to reopen on January 26th and unveil a new dinosaur exhibit on February 7th. (CTV)
